OUR FOUNDATION
Matthew 7:24-25 NIV "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."
OUR VISION
Our vision is to see families restored to wholeness. Our structured environment fosters personal growth and prepares parents and students for success in their relationships and careers. Our goal is to help our clients recover, learn and grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically, thus enabling them to reunite with their family.
OUR HISTORY
The STORY of Broken Arrow Youth Ranch
The vision for Broken Arrow Youth Ranch was first received in the mid 1990's by two people, who, along with their one year old daughter, had been in Wood Mountain since the spring of 1985. The Lord continued to deepen that desire to minister to families and youth in need. As a result, in the spring of 1997, a trip was made to Oklahoma to visit an organization called "Cookson Hills Christian Ministries" who continue to successfully minister to youth since 1957. They were welcomed with open arms as they listened to the vision for reaching youth. It soon became clear what the philosophy of ministry would be and what we would seek to develop up here in Canada. In that same year, a group of Christian individuals were contacted and asked if they would consider becoming "ministry directors" for an organization entitled "Christ, the Solid Rock Ministries."
Early in 1998 the first meeting was held - bylaws were established and by the fall of 1998 Christ the Solid Rock Ministries was incorporated and registered with the Corporations Branch as a Non-Profit Organization. Since then, the ministry directors have prayerfully, diligently and steadfastly held to the vision that the LORD established years ago, which has now become the vision for “Broken Arrow Youth Ranch.”
As the vision and mission of Broken Arrow Youth Ranch has come into full establishment; the LORD has provided. The land has been purchased, and the ministry is fully functional and currently ministering to families from across the province as well as other parts of Canada. As the story continues...how beautiful it is to see God at work, putting things together at Broken Arrow, for the benefit of future generations.
Where did the name "Broken Arrow" come from? The phrase “broken arrow” was chosen from a movie entitled “We Were Soldiers”. The movie is based on a true military battle which took place in 1965. A unit of soldiers was being overwhelmed by the enemy. The term “broken arrow” was communicated, all the resources of the air force were called, engaged and focused on responding to the need of this particular military unit. The directors of Solid Rock Ministries selected the name “broken arrow” as a symbol of their commitment to call upon all the resources of our LORD and our human response to engage and focus on the needs of youth and their families, who are overwhelmed with the feeling of no hope. Broken Arrow is now a place where hope can be uncovered.
THE RANGE
- author Rick L. Aupperle
Far from the hustle and bustle of life,
Far from the tension of turmoil and strife,
Far from the concrete jungles we know
Is a place to reflect, to renew, and to grow.
Out on the range, which God created for all,
Where soft breezes sway, summer grass growing tall,
Fresh rains paint the landscape a wondrous green.
God’s beauty abounds over all that is seen.
At beginning of day - the stillness of morn,
Heralded by meadow larks - a new day is born.
Deer lift their heads as they pause at the spring,
The sun bringing warmth to all living things.
Ponder and enjoy – all there’s to see,
The quiet, the solitude, the calm serenity.
Here’s a peace that can touch the most troubled soul,
God’s order thru creation – a wonder to behold.
‘Round the table at supper – God’s blessings we share,
Hands clasped, heads bowed, thankful for our Lord’s care,
For hard work – daily chores – a job well done,
For brothers and sisters – a dad and a mom.
As evening approaches – the sun setting low,
The blueness of heaven takes on a red glow.
Long shadows are cast – night’s rest is at hand,
A crispness so refreshing envelopes the land.
Stars shimmer so bright – moonlight casting its glow,
The heavens explode – a northern lights show.
As all go about getting ready for bed,
God’s Word is opened – The Bible is read.
Inside a true story ‘bout God’s only Son,
Jesus our Savior and all that He’s done
For each and every one, whoever they are,
No matter the loss – no matter the scar.
Trust our Lord’s truth – follow His ways.
Life takes on new meaning – there’s a difference each day.
God’s blessing awaits – each and every one
Who come to the Father through Jesus His Son.
Receive Christ as Savior – He died for you and me
So we could be forgiven – rest in heaven eternally,
But there’s more than that He’s done – that we need to understand.
There’s abundant life here on earth – it’s all in His plan.
Christ desires to set us free of that which weighs us down,
The disappointments, the hurts, the mistreatments that abound,
The pathway to freedom – is not without pain,
But follow our Lord’s truth – overflowing joy will be the gain.
The wide open spaces – air fresh – sky blue –
Your creation, dear Lord – helps us reflect upon You,
Where youth will be strengthened – for what lies ahead,
Having a message of hope – to a world filled with dread.
